12 YEARS A SLAVE BOOK REVIEW

I recently completed reading of Solomon Northrup’s 12 Years a Slave.  By far one of the best books I have ever read!

12 Years a Slave by Solomon Northrup

I try to diversify my reading by alternating between genres and mixing fiction and non-fiction.  I enjoy a great many different types of books and I swear I could never tire of reading!

This book was excellent.  Although the basis of Solomon’s story was sad, it was very well written and Solomon’s skill at documenting the tragic events of his life was both detailed and an interesting piece of history.

I also found it interesting to read his details regarding the cotton picking process (and of course processing) as well as the various stages of working in the sugar cane fields and how the sugar was processed.  His level of detail is amazing!  Truly a wonderful book that I highly recommend.

A wonderful read, especially if you are a history buff.
